This is my favorite pie. I don't really like apple pie but his is so different.
You can use a homemade crust or a store bought one. For the sake of typing I'll say store bought.
Filling:
2 Tb. apple juice concentrate
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup plus 2T. sugar
2 Tb. flour
4 lrg. apples, cut into wedges
Crumb topping:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ginger sue
3 Tb. butter, room temp.
For filling you just combine all ingredients in a bowl and make sure apples are coated well, if there seems to be a lot of liquid then add more apple.
For topping add all but butter and stir well and then cut in your butter till crumbly.
Put your filling in crust and top with topping. Cook for 15 min. at 425 and then cover your crust edges with foil and cook at 375 for 35-40 min. longer. Cool for 1 hour so liquid can set up in the pie. I forgot, freeze your pie shell after you have it in the pie plate for about 10 min. it helps it keep its shape better.
